Fund Our Future
"Wyndham City Council is pleased to announce we are joining other fast –growing outer suburbs across Australia in a new national grassroots campaign, Fund our Future, advocating the Federal government for a dedicated infrastructure fund."
- Cr Adele Hegedich, Wyndham Mayor
The Big Picture
Communities are confronted daily with congested roads, lack of adequate public transport and health facilities. Already residents are often spending up to two hours each in traffic – just to get to work or to reach basic services and it’s just not good enough.
Fund our Future calls for a rethink of infrastructure policy and a dedicated national funding mechanisms to advocate for billions of dollars needed nationally to address the backlog, and future proof these areas as they continue to grow
Local councils don’t have the budget – nor the responsibility to pay for major infrastructure and unfortunately, successive governments have failed to deliver essential services for the five million Australians currently putting up with the results of chronic under-investment every day.
What’s In It for Wyndham?
There are many important projects in the growing outer suburbs that communities feel strongly about. A selection of these will be highlighted throughout the campaign to demonstrate examples of what could be built from a dedicated infrastructure fund. Wyndham is focused on a ‘Roads to Jobs’ program, with the priority projects being a full diamond interchange at Duncan’s Road and a package of works in Laverton North including road duplications on Palmers, Leaks and Dohertys Roads.
